The First Step: When Something Inside You Whispers, “It’s Time”

Updated: Jul 17

There’s a quiet moment that happens before therapy begins.

Sometimes it’s a feeling—a weight you can’t quite name. Other times, it’s a thought that keeps circling back: “I can’t keep doing this on my own.” Or maybe it’s simply the soft realisation that you’re ready for something to shift.

However it shows up, that moment matters.

It’s the beginning of your story changing.

Starting therapy doesn’t need to be perfect

There’s a common myth that you need to be “ready” to start therapy. That you should know exactly what to say, or have the right words for what you’re feeling.

But the truth is—many people walk into their first session not quite sure where to begin. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need enough curiosity or courage to take that very first step.

Therapy can hold the messy, unsure, vulnerable parts of you. That’s what it’s here for.

What the first step looks like

After you reach out, I’ll get in touch to arrange a gentle, no-pressure call. This is simply a space for us to connect, see how I might support you, and make sure it feels like a good fit. Think of it as a conversation, not a commitment.

If it feels right to continue, we’ll book in your first session—whether in person, online, or over the phone. From there, we begin the work together, at your pace. There’s no rush, no expectation, no right way to be.

Just a space for you to breathe, explore, and be met with compassion.

You deserve support

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, overwhelm, grief, burnout, trauma, or simply longing for more connection—to yourself or others—therapy is a place where your experience can be heard, held, and honoured.

This isn’t about fixing you. It’s about walking beside you as you find your way forward.

So if something inside you is whispering, “It’s time,”

I’ll be here when you’re ready to take that first step..
