Children and Young people

Growing up can bring many challenges, and children and young people often need extra support as they navigate their emotions and changes to their world. Counselling provides a safe and understanding space where they can talk openly, explore their feelings, and develop healthy ways to cope.

Because every child and young person is unique, I work in an integrative and holistic way. This means I draw on different approaches to meet each child’s individual developmental needs. As a person centred counsellor as my foundation, this grounding allows me to focus on the here and now, meeting children and young people where they are. I may use creative and play-based activities to help younger children express themselves, or talking and reflective techniques for older children and teenagers. I also take into account wider needs such as neurodiversity, emotional regulation, and the importance of building positive, trusting relationships.

Alongside counselling and psychotherapy, I also offer a range of creative and relational interventions to support emotional expression and connection. These include Advanced Drawing and Talking, LEGO® Therapy, and Parent-Child Attachment Play (PCAP), delivered through individual sessions as well as small group work over a set period of weeks.
My aim is always to create a supportive space where children and young people feel understood, valued, and empowered—helping them develop the skills and confidence to thrive.
During the initial contact, we will explore the needs of your child or young person, whether related to past, current, or ongoing challenges. Sessions for children (under 11) and young people (aged 11–17) are offered face to face in Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, or at alternative agreed locations.

If your child or young person has an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) and you would like guidance on how support can help meet outcomes related to emotional wellbeing, please get in touch for more information.
